LAFC continue to strengthen ahead of the next MLS season and have signed the son of an MLS legend. Colombian Tomás Ángel has joined from Atlético Nacional and is a promising 20-year-old who scored eight goals last season, in addition to another six goals with the Colombia U-20 team.

Ángel will occupy an International Roster Slot and will be added to the roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa.

“Tommy is a gifted and versatile attacker whom we have been monitoring for quite some time during his time with Atlético Nacional and with the Colombian National Teams,” said LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington.

“Tommy knows LAFC well, and we are grateful he also believes LAFC is a fantastic next step for his promising career.”

In his father’s footsteps

The legend of Juan Pablo Ángel was forged in MLS, after his time with Aston Villa, with whom he scored 62 goals in six and a half seasons. Some thought he was going to retire like many other greats who leave Europe, but he would leave his mark in US soccer.
