Sports betting operators up and down the UK are enticing bettors with special wagers on this, the final day of the transfer window. It seems a flurry of activity could still take place before the 11pm English deadline.
While the likes of Ferran Torres (Manchester City to Barcelona), Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona to Aston Villa) and Chris Wood, Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes (to cash-rich Newcastle) have all completed moves, there are several more expected to go ahead.
Sky Bet, like the majority of the sports media this month, is focusing its specials predominantly around Newcastle Football Club, which has been linked with a number of players since being acquired by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund.
The operator has odds of 2/1 for the club to sign over 6.5 players before the end of the window, while Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard is at 7/4 to join Newcastle before 11pm.
In European football, Sky Bet has Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele at odds of 9/4 to join French club Paris Saint-Germain, while Welsh midfielder, Aaron Ramsey, is heavily favoured to join Scottish club Rangers at 1/20.
Elsewhere, Boyle Sports has Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, odds-on favourite to make a permanent switch to FC Barcelona at 1/10, while Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli is rumoured to join Everton, with odds of 4/6.
Paddy Power, an operator known for its innovative specials, has West Ham FC to sign any player at 8/13, Everton to sign three or more players on deadline day at 10/11, and perhaps a little optimistically, Newcastle to sign eight players in total at 6/1.
Going into deadline day, Premier League clubs had spent £195m ($262.1m), compared with £70m at the end of January 2021.
