New York Giants vs. Houston Texans Prediction
Content:
ToggleTexans -2.5 (-105)
Although home field advantage hasn’t proven to be a good indicator of preseason success so far, I’ve got to go with the home team here. I like Davis Mills backing up CJ Stroud better than I like Tommy DeVito backing Daniel Jones, and Houston looked good in the 2nd half against Pittsburgh last week.
Mills has a weapon in Xavier Hutchinson that he can go to for yardage through the air, and Texans’ veteran Cam Akers is looking to prove he can earn a roster spot. He’s struggled thus far, but Detroit was able to rush for over 110 yards last weekend. That gives me confidence Akers can see success here.
Ultimately though, New York has a lot of talent at the skill positions. Eric Gray may be a problem for Houston as the game enters the late stages, but I’ll go with the home team to hold on for a win here.

The Texans, as expected, are considered home favorites for Saturday’s matchup at -2.5 point spread. The Giants, who won their lone preseason tilt against the Detroit Lions, sit at +115 moneyline while Houston sits at -140.
Preseason is obviously a harder matchup to judge than a normal game thanks to all the variables involved. Coaches may be looking for individual play more than actually winning the game. If you’re wondering whether home field advantage is real in preseason, keep in mind that the home team finished 8-8 in preseason Week 1.
The Over/Under for Saturday’s matchup sits at 39.5 on Fanatics, a bit on the higher side across Fanatics’ preseason Week 2 catalog. Both O/U totals sit with -110 odds.
Giants vs. Texans Names to Watch
Malik Nabers, Giants WRDanielle Hunter, Texans DEEric Gray, Giants RB
Malik Nabers might be the next great wide receiver out of LSU to star in the NFL. The Giants’ first-round selection is dealing with some slight injury issues, but was given the green light to practice on Thursday and had a good chance to play Saturday.
Hunter was a massive acquisition by the Texans this past offseason. He’s poised to form a deadly pass rushing duo alongside Will Anderson and will likely play a drive or 2 on Saturday. A new face is always fun to watch if you’re a Texans fan, but Hunter could be a force in Houston in 2024.
Eric Gray has scored both of New York’s touchdowns this preseason. The Oklahoma product is shifty and can contribute out of the backfield or lined up as a receiver – Gray led all receivers with 4 receptions for 46 yards in his first stint with New York this season. He accounted for 98 scrimmage yards with 2 touchdowns in the Giants’ 14-3 win over Detroit last week.
