The Premier League in England has not even started its new season. In Scotland, however, just 180 minutes of action has made a significant impact on Paddy Power traders…
Indeed, Paddy Power has paid out early on Celtic winning the Scottish Premiership title, despite the weekend just gone only being the opening round of fixtures of the new season.
The current holder opened its 2024/25 campaign on Sunday with a convincing 4-0 win over Kilmarnock, unfurling the league flag prior to the match to mark the achievement of lifting the title last season.
Celtic’s fierce rival Rangers started its league season on Saturday in some contrast, only able to come away with a 0-0 draw against Hearts – in a game that would have sent fans changing the channel over to the Olympics.
And, even this early in the season, Paddy Power has seen enough to be convinced Celtic will draw level with Rangers in the all-time champions of Scotland list to claim its 55th title this season.
In a post on Paddy Power’s X (formerly Twitter) account, accompanied by a laughing Brendan Rodgers video, it read: “EARLY PAYOUT
“Sod it, we’ve seen enough already. We’re paying out on Celtic to win the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership!”
Paddy Power has previously paid out on certain scenarios occurring earlier than expected, including in last season’s Premier League, when the bookmaker paid out in early March on Sheffield United to be relegated from the division after a 6-0 defeat to Arsenal left them 11 points from safety.
Paddy Power wasn’t wrong with Sheffield United. And it’s hard to bet against Celtic if Rangers will be this lethargic all season…
In other sports betting news, StarGames has agreed a deal with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund, becoming a premium partner for the 2024/25 season, which includes brand visibility at Signal Iduna Park.
